CraftTime – How to Transfer a Picture onto Wood – Uberbuys.net

Why transfer pictures onto wood?

  • They make great gift ideas.
  • They last longer. Especially if you seal the picture with clear spray sealant.
  • It will be a great project with the kids.

Even though this project is for a picture transferred to wood, but it can also be used for canvas, leather, polymer clay, glass, or tiles.

You will need:

Directions:

  1. Using the brush, apply a thick layer of Mod Podge on the front paper the image. (Make sure the photo is mirrored)
  2. Now place the photo side facing the wood. Press the image onto the wood and smooth out the image to remove any air bubbles with a bone folder (https://amzn.to/2LGUi5Z) or the edge of a credit card.
  3. With a hair dryer set to high, go over image for 5 to 10 minutes. If you don’t have a hair dryer, then let it air dry for about 30 to 40 minutes. Even better if you place it in the sun for about 30 minutes.
  4. With a damp cloth, lightly wet one corner of the paper. Begin rubbing gently with cloth or with your fingers to remove the paper and expose the image below. Try to remove all the paper residue.
  5. Lightly sand the edges. (if needed)
  6. Seal the photo onto the wood with clear spray sealant.
